Religious Education
At Hambrough, the Religious Education (RE) curriculum, which follows the Ealing Agreed RE syllabus, is an invaluable and essential part of a child’s education. The prominence of religion in our society is clearly seen by the beliefs and customs of many people and also through areas such as art, music and literature, and it is therefore essential that children are given the skills and knowledge to understand and appreciate the value that religion has.
We value the great diversity of beliefs that children and parents have at Hambrough and we strive to create an environment in which children can express their beliefs and gain understanding, tolerance and respect of the beliefs of others.
Our curriculum allows pupils to develop the following disciplinary skills within the domain of RE:
- Beliefs, teachings and sources of wisdom and authority
- Practices and ways of life
- Ways of expressing meaning
- Identity, diversity and belonging
- Meaning, purpose and truth
- Values and commitments
The following categories of knowledge are used to support pupil retention of information by fostering the development of schemas:
- Believing
- Belonging
- Behaving
