HAMBROUGH IS A HEALTHY SCHOOL

FEBRUARY 2016:  GOLD AWARDED TO HAMBROUGH FOR HEALTHY SCHOOL STATUS

The aim of parents and teachers is to continuously raise healthy, happy children who lead healthy lifestyles and helping them to make healthy food choices whether at school or at home and in the future.

When children are healthy and happy at school, they consistently achieve more.

There are many healthy initiatives which have been embedded within the life of the school to raise awareness about the benefits of being healthy and improve the physical and mental wellbeing of our pupils.

Pupil Voice: Anti-Bullying

Hambrough is a NO BULLYING Zone!

"EMPOWERING CHILDREN WITH A VOICE TO ALLOW THEM TO EXPRESS HOW THEY FEEL" Louise Singleton, Headteacher

Following a pupil survey & in consultation with the school councillors an Anti-Bullying Charter was  developed by the school.

Playleaders, Mini-Mentors and the School Councillors are all involved in ensuring that Hambrough Primary School is a NO-BULLYING ZONE.

See the Pupil Voice Video on Anti-Bullying for more information.

HEALTH FAIR 2017

Our annual HEALTH FAIR took place this year on the 14th July 2017. The  Health Fair is an opportunity to explore and understand the importance of diet and exercise, and to reflect how  we can maintain healthy habits in our daily life.  As well as extending their knowledge children also have a chance to reflect on global goal 3: "Health & Well-Being" and article 24:  "The right to the best health care possible".

On the 14th, during the day all classes rotated from class to class taking part in health related activities like:  making Smoothies, healthy kebabs, healthy salads, sandwiches, even healthy pledges. Children  took part in Gaelic football, walked miles and miles around the school, told healthy stories,  designed new dining hall rules poster and even sang healthy songs. After school, there were similar activities and stalls set out in the playground  with raffle tickets  on sale and lucrative healthy prizes on offer.  Thank you to all the parents who turned up and supported us. Together with your £1.00 donations and sales we raised £350.87 for the Health Fair. This money will be used to support & promote healthy eating in the dining hall including packed lunches., uniforms for our Dining Hall Helpers and daily music resources to be played in September during lunchtime. .  At the end of the day, each year group also created their own thought on the day, chose favourite activities and voiced their reasons for their choices.  Great fun was had by all and deeper lessons on health and well-being and good humanitarianism were embedded in our daily living.
